Getting Started with Counseling
Your first step toward healing doesn’t have to feel overwhelming. Here’s how the process works at Mindset Counseling Center and our FAQ's.

How to Begin
Starting therapy is simple, and we’re here to walk you through every step. Whether you’re reaching out for yourself, your child, or your family, we’ll help you find the right therapist and service for your needs.

1. Reach Out

Contact us by phone, email, or the online form. Our team will respond promptly to answer your questions and schedule your first appointment.
2. Choose Your Therapist

We’ll match you with a licensed counselor based on your goals, preferences, and availability. You can also read about our team on the Meet the Therapists page and request your preference, if you have one.

What to Expect in Your First Session
Your first session is about getting to know you. Your story, your goals, and what brought you to counseling. There’s no pressure or judgment, just space to share and be heard.
Your therapist will guide the conversation, helping you explore what’s been difficult and what you hope to change. Together, you’ll begin building a plan for care that fits your needs using a whole-person approach that supports your mind, body, and spirit.

Support That Fits Your Needs, and Your Budget
We believe that quality mental health care should be accessible. Our rates vary depending on the therapist and type of session, and we’re happy to discuss options that best fit your needs.
Private Pay: We currently operate as a private-pay practice and can provide documentation for out-of-network reimbursement if your insurance allows.
Session Options: Beginning January 2026, we’ll offer reduced-rate sessions with our intern therapist. A great option for those seeking professional counseling at a lower cost while still receiving quality care.
Payment Methods: We accept major credit cards, HSA/FSA, and secure online payments.
Frequently Asked Questions
A few quick answers to make getting started with counseling simple and stress-free.
Wondering how therapy works, what to expect, or how to schedule your first session? You’re not alone — here are answers to a few things clients often ask before getting started.
Do you take insurance or what is the cost?
We do not accept any insurance. Some insurance policies provide partial reimbursement or put the cost of sessions towards your deductible. This varies depending on your insurance. It is always worth a call to ask them. We do provide clients with a superbill that will provide the coding for you to submit on your own to insurance. We do accept HSA cards.
What is the therapy intake process like?
Once your first session is scheduled, we’ll send a brief intake form so we can learn more about your goals and background. This helps your therapist prepare to support you right from the start. During your intake session, we’ll take time to listen, answer questions, and make sure you feel comfortable and informed.
What happens during the first session?
Your first session is a chance to get to know your therapist and share what brought you to counseling. Together, you’ll discuss your goals, background, and what you hope to achieve through therapy. Your therapist will explain their approach, answer any questions, and begin shaping a plan that fits your needs. It’s a relaxed, conversational process designed to help you feel comfortable and supported as you start your journey toward healing.
How much does therapy cost?
-
Individual sessions is $120 per session
-
Couples and family sessions are $150
Most sessions are 45-55 minutes long
We can accommodate longer sessions. This is based on individual client needs as well as availability. The cost for extended sessions will be discussed before scheduling.
Do you offer affordable or reduced-rate counseling options?
Yes. Starting in January 2026, we’ll offer reduced-rate sessions with our intern therapist — a wonderful option for anyone seeking quality therapy at a lower cost. We believe everyone deserves access to care, and we’re happy to discuss flexible payment options that work for you.
Do you take insurance, or can I get any sort of reimbursement for sessions?
Mindset Counseling Center is an out-of-network provider, which means we don’t bill insurance directly. However, we’re happy to provide a superbill, a detailed receipt you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.
Just ask your insurance provider the following questions:
-
Do I have out-of-network benefits for mental health therapy?
-
What is my out-of-pocket max for an out-of-network therapist?
-
Do you have reimbursement for code 90834 90847?
Do you offer online sessions?
Yes. We offer both in-person sessions at our Limerick, PA office and virtual counseling for Pennsylvania residents. Many clients enjoy the flexibility of choosing what works best for their schedule.
What are your hours? Do you have weekend appointments?
Our office is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. We currently offer weekday appointments only. Evening sessions are available on select days to help accommodate busy schedules.
If I am feeling suicidal will you hospitalize me?
Confidentiality will always be broken for plans and intent of self-harm, harm to others, or if someone is harming you.
How long does therapy typically take?
There’s no set timeline for therapy, everyone’s journey is unique. Some clients find meaningful progress in just a few sessions, while others benefit from longer-term support. Your therapist will discuss what’s best for you and adjust the plan as you grow and heal.
Where are you located?
Mindset Counseling Center is conveniently located in Limerick, Pennsylvania, near Royersford, Collegeville, and Spring City. We provide both in-person sessions at our Limerick office and secure online counseling for clients across Pennsylvania.
Do you prescribe medication?
We do not offer medication services. We will refer you to contact your primary care doctor or a psychiatrist for medication and medication management.
Do you tell my parents everything we talk about?
For anyone under the age of 18, parents have a right to know what is discussed. We ask that parents allow some confidentiality for their child to develop a therapeutic alliance with our counselors. We work with parents to check on how things are going at home and discuss areas of progress and concerns they might have. If concerning behaviors and or feelings arise in therapy, and the parents need to be brought in due to such things as a safety concern, it is always done as a team to maintain safety and the therapeutic alliance.
